It is almost a month until the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December (7 - 18 December) and there is a lot of concern on the progress in the climate negotiations and if the governments will manage to produce meaningful agreement for the future of the planet.
The ultimate aim of the Conference is to end up with a Copenhagen Protocol to prevent global warming and climate changes, since in 2012 the Kyoto Protocol runs out.
Even though many of the effects of global warming have been well-documented, it is the precise extent that is difficult to predict. Without doubt it has already affected the lives of many people and this is documented in the new work of the "6 billions others" project by Yann Arthus-Bertran.
"6 billions others", is a portrait of humanity, a "deposit" of thousand filmed testimonies, that currently focuses on how climate change is experienced by people around the world. What difference does it make for farmers? What has changed in the dailylife of people in Bangladesh, one of the most exposed country to floods, or in Kenya where it leads to drought and starvation ? 6 billion others. Climate voices
All those interviews will be shown as a movie during the Copenhagen summit in December 2009. This is a project supported by ADEME, French Ministry of sustainable developement and United Nations. |
