Sofia Giannaki, biologist, environmental-spatial planning engineer
Growing up in the polluted city of Athens, environmental protection became her ambition. In environmental-friendly Germany, she studied biology and obtained her MSc in environmental engineering and spatial planning. In Greece she worked initially in environmental NGOs. She is currently working for the improvement of the urban environment of Athens, in the hope that this city will someday become “user-friendly”.
Georgia Gomopoulou, architect
Born, grew and studied architecture in Athens. Post-graduated studies in “Urban and Regional Planning” and now prepares her doctoral thesis - also in Athens. At the same time she works and collaborates studying and manufacturing mainly spaces of residence and office. She is intensely interested for the relations of built-natural environment and tries to “balance” between them through her choices, so much in professional what in personal level.
Dimitris Zygomalas, architect
A graduate of the School of Architecture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and of the postgraduate programme in conservation studies of the University of York. Currently living and working in Thessaloniki, he is preparing a doctorate on the history of architectural conservation in northern Greece. His writings in scientific journals and conference proceedings focus on conservation theory and practice.
Gelly Manoussou, teacher
She has done postgraduate studies in Educational Informatics and holds a Ph.D. in Distance Learning Education. She is working as teacher and as a tutor-supervisor at the Hellenic Open University. She has written a great variety of educational materials and is a regular collaborator in educational journals. She participates actively in many environmental and cultural, non-governmental organizations.
Natalia Margaritouli, architect
Was born and lives in Athens. Graduated from the Architectural Department of N.T.U.A. in 2001. She has also obtained her MSc in «Conservation and restoration of historical buildings and sites» in 2003. She worked in the field of restoration of monuments and participates actively in the protection of the environment and the cultural heritage.
Mika Michalaki, architect
She comes from Rhodes. Graduated from the School of Architecture of the Aristotle University of Thesaloniki, in 2003. She obtained a Master Degree in Town and Regional Planning from the National Technical University of Athens and she is preparing a PhD thesis on the protection and the incorporation of historical settlements in town.
Vasso Monokrousou, chemist
She holds a BSc in Chemistry (Sussex University) and an MA in Environment, Politics and Globalisation (King’s College, University of London). She has worked in environmental NGOs in Greece and in Great Britain (SUSTAIN: The Alliance for better food and farming). Main areas of interest: climate change, green architecture, ecological cinema, water management and protected areas.
Dafni Papadopoulou, structural engineer
She was born in Athens. She studied Structural Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and was immediately fascinated by the investigation of traditional and historical buildings. Her enthusiasm for architecture and esthetics leads her to Barcelona where she carries out postgraduate studies in architectural design. She is intensely interested in the protection and elevation of cultural heritage.
Eliza Papadopoulou, structural engineer
She was born in Athens and studied Structural Engineering. She soon realised her interest about a combined subject dealing with both historic cities and historic buildings. She is now working in the field of conservation of historic buildings and she is doing a research about the protection of the 1922 refugees’ houses in Athens.
Vasiliki Pappa, architect
She was born in Athens but she was raised in Chios. She graduated from the School of Architecture of the University of Liverpool in 2004. She lives in Liverpool and at the moment she is completing her Doctoral dissertation regarding the Military Architecture in the Aegean during the Latin and Ottoman domination.
Virginia Sideraki, architect
Born in Athens in 1975, graduated from the Architectural Department of N.T.U.A. in 2000, she lives and works in Athens. She completed her postgraduate studies in «Conservation and restoration of historical buildings and sights» in 2003, as a result of her sensitivity in matters of preservation of the architectural heritage, a sector in which she is dealing professionally since then.
Angela Sideri, archaeologist
Born in Athens in 1980. Graduated from the History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology Department -part of the University of Thessaly based in Volos- in 2002. Her interest for the protection of cultural heritage, led her study techniques of restoration and conservation mainly focused in historical buildings and works of art in general. She has worked in the field of recording, documentation and evaluation of buildings erected within the newer period (dated after 1830). She is now working in public works' construction.
Kostas Hatzifragios-Makridakis, surveyor - agronomer
He was born in Chania-Crete. Graduated Surveyor Engineer N.T.U.A. He has obtained 2 MSc in “Environment and Development” and “Architectural and Urban Design” N.T.U.A. He works out his doctoral thesis in the faculty of Architectural Engineer in the department of Land and Urban Planning, N.T.U.A. He has also published articles in scientific publications and magazines. It has been occupied in the construction as well as in the elaboration of studies.
