The four-storey neoclassical building was designed by the German architect Ernest Ziller and built in 1889 by Ioannis Mpaga. The fourth floor was added in the early 20th century. It was one of the most important hotels in Athens along with its twin "Mpageion" on the opposite corner. The top floor is decorated with red rectangular surfaces and the ground floor has large arched openings. It has been listed.
