UNKNOWN CORNERS IN ATHENS - 4th Municipal Community

Three days of events on the theme "UNKNOWN CORNERS IN ATHENS - 4th Municipal Community" are co-organized, on Saturday 16, Sunday 17 and Monday 18 May 2026, by the Region of Attica, the Organization for Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA) with the collaboration of MONUMENTA and the participation of Happy Elephant.

The 4th Municipal Community is defined by the streets of Nirvana, Acharnon, Ionias, Admitou, Peisistratou, Konstantinoupoleos, Domokou, Theodorou Deligiannis, Andromachis, Keratsiniou, Serres and the avenues of Athens and Kifissos. It includes the districts of Akadimia Platonos, Kolokynthou, Kolonos, Nirvana and Sepolia. Its history dates back to ancient times (the founding of Plato's Academy is placed in 387 BC) and its habitation in modern times began in the 19th century. Thus, the 4th District includes archaeological sites, numerous buildings of all styles (neoclassicism, eclecticism, modern movement), squares (Plato's Academy, Agios Meletios, Athanasios Diakos, Sotiris Petroulas, Kolonou, etc.), groves, statues, fountains, etc.

The events {workshops, guided tour, photo exhibition (as part of a photo competition for the 4th MC), treasure hunt, educational programs in schools} aim to get to know the monuments, landmarks, unknown corners of the Community, to integrate them into our daily lives whether we are residents or visitors, with the ultimate goal of protecting its built and natural environment.

For three days, and not only, we tour, record, collect oral testimonies, photograph, paint, participate in a treasure hunt! The neighborhoods of the 4th MC are waiting for us!
